Hastings ALB was requested to launch at 1821hrs on 4th July 2017 to assist a yacht that had suffered machinery failure and was struggling to sail with little wind against the flood tide.

The Lifeboat and her volunteer crew were quickly on scene 2 miles east of the station where 2 crew members transferred to the yacht and a tow with bridles was established. When safely under tow the yacht was taken to Sovereign Harbour, Eastbourne. Once securely moored up in the locks at Eastbourne the 2 crew members were recovered and the Lifeboat was stood down. ALB returned to station at around 2230hrs.
