Both of Hastings Lifeboats were tasked by Solent Coastguard after reports of a yacht becoming fouled on a trawl. Hastings ILB launched and made their way to the casualty, who was positioned 1 mile south of Fairlight. The ILB transferred 1 crew member on board to assess the situation and requested the assistance of Hastings ALB. Once the ALB arrived on scene another crew member was transferred onto the casualty vessel along with a grapple hook to aid in recovering the trawl. Once the majority of the trawl had been recovered onto the deck of the yacht, the crew prepared to tow the yacht to Sovereign Harbour, Eastbourne. Once safely alongside in the Lock and the remainder of the trawl had been cut away, the ALB was released to return to station.
