Bungee Jump For Charity

Hastings Lifeboat Coxswain Martin Phillips took part in a Bungee jump during the Carnival day celebrations.

The event was organized by former Lifeboat crewman Mick Barrow who was diagnosed with prostate cancer some time ago, Mick has since been a great ambassador for the prostate cancer charity, and regularly gives talks about his experiences since being diagnosed.

Mick set up the event with help from the Dolphin public house, a very large crane appeared on the beach next to the lifeboat station on Carnival morning which could be seen from all over the town. in the end over 100 people jumped for the charity on the day raising on average £200 - £300 each.

Coxswain Martin Phillips was foolish enough to persuaded in to doing the jump on the understanding that the rest of the crew raised the sponsorship money! unfortunately for Martin people were most forthcoming with their cash including the Lifeboat Operations Manager who stumped up the Jump fee. all in all the crew raised over £200 in just over 24hrs and thanks must go to crew member Mike Eustace for organizing that side of things.
